It looks like the case of CSI: Miami… (David Caruso removes glasses here) .. is coming to an end after 10 seasons.
Insiders tell TV Guide Magazine that CBS will announce this week that Miami, the second in the CSI franchise, has been canceled — but that the original and NY versions are safe. The move is not a huge surprise; CBS almost canceled one of the shows last year as well, but the two CSI spinoffs earned a last-minute reprieve.
Not this year. CBS has an embarrassment of riches on its schedule, and could afford to let one of the CSIs go, even though they still perform well for the network. At 10 seasons, CSI: Miami is an expensive show to produce, and it has already minted more than enough backend syndication money for all involved.
CSI: Miami debuted in September 2002 and will have aired more than 230 episodes. Sources say there are no plans to shop it elsewhere. Will you miss Horatio Caine and crew?
With CSI: Miami on the bubble at CBS, series co-star Eva LaRue has booked an insurance plan.
The actress has joined ABC’s untitled Mandy Moore comedy pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. LaRue will guest star in the pilot with an option to become a regular should the project move to series. The Moore project is in first position to her role on CSI: Miami.
The untitled comedy explores the inherent conflict that exists between the families we grow up in and the ones we make as adults. It will be told through the perspective of Annie (Moore) and Ben, a young newlywed couple who get the opportunity of a lifetime to run a hip, new restaurant in Annie’s hometown, bringing her closer to her needy and high-maintenance family.
LaRue, who plays Detective Natalia Boa Vista on the long-running CSI spinoff, will play Veronica, one of Annie’s sisters.
Eva LaRue, who currently plays Natalia on “CSI: Miami,” will receive a Genii Award for her work as the Beckstrand Cancer Foundation spokesperson. The Alliance for Women in Media, Southern California Chapter will honor her with the 2012 Inspiration Award.
The Genii Awards salute the outstanding achievements of women in media and entertainment. The 55th Annual event will be held on April 24, 2012 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA. Former Deacon of “The Young and the Restless,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and A.J. of “General Hospital” Sean Kanan hosts the Genii Awards.
